Why we collect customer information

Collecting other information

We do not automatically collect customer information when a customer uses the Eaton’s MEM website. We do however automatically collect information not linked to individual customer identity, including but not limited to browser type, screen resolution, time spent on the website, pages visited & actions taken. We use this information to continuously improve our customer’s experience of the website.

Like many websites, the Eaton’s MEM website may use ‘cookies’. Cookies are a standard and non-intrusive way to enable certain features such as automatic login. The cookies we use do not reveal any information about our customers. Cookies help us understand which parts of our websites are the most popular, where our visitors are going, and how long they spend there. In e-mails to customers, we may use a ‘click-through URL’. When a customer clicks one of these URLs, they may pass through our webserver before arriving at the destination website. Eaton’s MEM does not knowingly solicit personal information from children or send them requests for personal information.

The Eaton’s MEM website may contain links to other websites. Eaton’s MEM does not share customer information with those websites and is not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage customers to learn about the privacy policies of those companies.

If we are going to use customer information differently from that stated at the time of collection, we will try to contact the customer via e-mail, using the most recent information we have. If a customer has not given us permission to communicate with them, the customer will not be contacted, nor will we use the customer’s information in a new manner.
